Summary of the WEG-WISE water management solution initiative

The proposed project looks at new and innovative approaches to Water Demand Management, water conservation and ultimately energy efficiency. The overall objective is to implement low cost infrastructure consisting of water limiters in high demand areas with sensitive environmental variables.
The cost of non-revenue water is estimated at 35% per month and equates to losses in millions. The advantage of using the flow limiter solution will allow municipalities to monitor and record flow patterns per household therefore saving the colossal waste of non-revenue water. The detection can be done remotely reducing response and turnaround time and reducing cost. This will subsequently increase municipality revenues and reduce loss of water.
Impact: The project would empower communities to embrace responsibility for their water allocations and have a reliable water management system with excellent water conservation as well as increased municipal revenue.
Economic value: We will train and employ jog seekers to assemble and install the product.

Saving and protecting our water resource

Local Authorities in South Africa are continuously working towards improving their non-revenue water. In the process they face many challenges that range from dated infrastructure to old technology.
ITAKANE is introducing new technological advances in this field to enable local authorities and other utility companies to manage their water losses down to world class levels.

Management of Water Delivery

The challenge to local authorities is to provide every South African citizen not only access to a basic amount of clean water and electricity but also to manage delivery so that it remains a sustainable service.
